Who I am
I’m Alison Bowyer, a Freelance Copywriter living and working in Milton Keynes.
How I can help you
I write words for business. My main service offering is website copywriting and blog content, but I’ve also written guides, brochures, leaflets, CVs and job specs.
How I work
I work part-time from my second floor home office. I’m all about keeping things simple – my motto is ‘No drama’. Life’s too short, right? It’s all about making life easier for you, but it’s a two way process. We’re in this together – working as a team to create the copy you want.
I’m BIG on professional development and spend many hours consuming industry relevant content – blogs, podcasts, books and courses. I’ve also undertaken some formal training (see below) and plan to do more this year.
- The Complete Copywriter (Writers Bureau) 2014
- Breakthrough Copywriting (Andy Maslen Copywriting Academy) 2017
- Inbound Marketing (Hubspot) 2017
- SEO for beginners (Yoast)
- SEO (Hubspot) 2018
Why I do what I do
I haven’t always been a copywriter. Before kids, I was part of an internal comms team in a well-known bank, contributing to intranet comms, corporate announcements and employee opinion surveys. Oh, and organising events but I really hated that (introvert alert).
And then I had my kids, went all mumsy for a while and took a career break. It happens.
I always assumed I would go back to work in a corporate setting when the kids were older. But life threw me a curveball when my younger son was diagnosed with autism, shortly after my dad died from dementia. Everything had changed and all my plans
It was only when I was drafting a letter to the local authority requesting a special school place for my son that my love of writing came back to me. Despite my sadness, I was enjoying the process of writing and editing. I always knew I could do this, but life had got in the way.
When you see loved ones struggle with words, you realise the value of them. I do. And that’s why you’ll never see me bitching online about other writers or business owners. I’m not interested in competing or proving I’m the best. I’m here to help you write clear, conversational copy to help you build a connection with your readers.
Here comes the ‘you’ bit
So enough about me (and thank you for reading). I want to know about you.
Feel free to drop me a line and tell me about your business and how you’d like me to help. You can email me firstname.lastname@example.org or go to my Get in Touch page where you’ll find a form.
